Originally established in 1994, the Malta Association of Ophthalmologists (MAO) represents ophthalmologists, ophthalmology trainees and ancillary professionals working around the Maltese archipelago. Our goals are:
To safeguard the interest of all affiliated members and ensure safe and ethical clinical practice in both the public and private sectors .
To promote research and innovation in the specialty.
To liaise with the public to ensure client protection.
To arbitrate entries in the ophthalmology specialist register and setup and maintain a CME (Continuous Medical Education) programme within the specialty.
Foreign liaison with European and global ophthamlology associations.
